Bucharest - The deadline for the submission of artistic projects for the Cow Parade Bucharest 2005, the biggest public arts show in the world, expired on Friday. Over 200 famous artists, including designer Doina Levintza, visual artist Ioan Nemtoi, as well as amateur artists submitted their projects for the parade, which comprises an exhibition of life-size cows to be mounted in the central areas of the city, as well as a charity auction. The auction is scheduled for September 12, on the evening of the Nigel Kennedy recital in the George Enescu International Music Festival.

The funds to be raised at the Cow Parade Bucharest will go to the Special Olympics Romania and used for holding in 2006, for the first time in Romania, the Olympics for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Bucharest is the first capital city in Eastern Europe to be selected from among 500 world cities to host this unique event. After a debut in 1998 in Zurich and after travelling the big cities of the world, including Chicago, London, New York, Sydney, Tokyo, Brussels, Prague and Johannesburg, the Cow Parade will finally reach Eastern Europe and is expected to draw a huge number of tourists and visitors.
