Play to Learn, Learn to Play

Life Youth Foundation and Asociation for Consultation and
Training - ACT  is inviting you to participate at two creative 
events a  training course and a seminar,  that shows  how to select,
design, and facilitate games that boost the fun factor while maximizing
learning.

The training is structured into two phases:

1) The on-line phase that will lead participants into the Game Univers
(1 April - 25 of April)
2) And the on-site phase, a game development seminar that will take
place in Romania, Oradea form 24-29 of May 2005

Purpose of the training course

    *  Shows you how to "sell" the benefits of games to your learners.
    *  Gives you effective assessment tools for evaluating existing games.
    *  Provides you with detailed worksheets for designing or modifying
      games.
    *  Adds fun and excitement to your courses.
    * Helps you to deal with different types of participants
    *  Gives you tips and techniques for facilitating a successful game.
    *  Gives you a comprehensive course manual full of decision tables,
      step-by-step directions, tips, checklists, job aids, and
      time-saving shortcuts.


Training course Objectives

    *  Choose the best game for your content.
    *  Select an existing game to save time.
    *  Adapt an existing game to meet your training needs.
    *  Design a post-game debrief to reinforce learning.
    *  Prepare yourself to conduct a game.
    *  Facilitate a game so that maximum learning takes place.
    *  Handle disruptive players.
    *  Evaluate the effectiveness of the game.


Methodology and program elements


The e-learning course  is  different  that other training courses that
you may have suffered through.

You have total control of how you learn.

    *  If you are a riguros structured type of participant, you may
      begin at the library and proceed to the playground and the café.
    *  If you are a wild and impulsive participant, you may hop, skip,
      and jump your way among the modules and sections.
    *  If you feel lucky you may skip all of the styding, go directly to
      the Assessment Center, and complete the assignment.


We put the emphasis more of helping you to achive all the knowledge that
you need in order to get the results that are usefull for you and for
the job you are doing.

We designed this course to be engaging. We are not interested in
spoon-feeding you. We want you to take responsibility for your own
learning.

For the hole process you will have assigned a trainer that you may
contact for any enquire.

The second part (25-29 of May 2005) is design as an open floor for the
participants to design and to run workshops using what they have learn
so far in a safe enviroment and to get feedback on their approach.

Working language

English will be the working language of the traing course (on-line and
on-site phase). Any kind of interpretation will not be provided.
Candidates must have sufficient understanding of the working languages
in order to fully participate in the training course without assistance
from another person.

Profile of the participants

    * Voluntary or employed staff of non-governmental youth
      organisations, and other organisations who are conducting
      educational activities for young people
    * Be committed to attend for the full duration of the course
      (including on-line training course)
    * Be aged between 18 and 30 years old
    * Competently able to work in English language
    * Resident of one of the Council of Europe Countries. A full list of
      the eligible countries you can find at the following adress
    * Only 100 participants will be selected for the on-line training
      course and from these 30 participants will be selected for the
      second phase based on assesments.


Financial conditions

    *  board and lodging (for the second phase) are provided and paid by
      Life Foundation
    *  we will reimburse 100% of the travel costs (on-site phase) for
      participants from the following countries: Albania, Armenia,
      Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic,
      Estonia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovenia,
      Slovakia and Ukraine.
    *  For the rest of Council of Europe Countries we will reimburse
      only 70%
    *  there is 50 euro participation fee
