Dear Colleagues Thank you for your recent e-mail petition concerning the killing of Ursus Actos in Romania. The European Commission is well aware of the situation and we are discussing the matter on a regular basis with the Romanian authorities. We are encouraging the authorities to provide reliable data as well as a management plan for the Brown Bear including concrete actions to be taken. Let me also inform you that a in early June this year, Member State experts will evaulate the administrative structures set up in Romania and to which extent these will allow Romania to comply with the Environment Acquis by accession. We take note of the information you have provided and reassure you that we will continue to discuss this matter with the Romanian authorities until satisfactory answers are obtained.
