Toate cele bune, Ionut Apostol TERRA Mileniul III District Heating Restructuring Project The objective of the project is to support the implementation of Romania's national district heating strategy and help Romania secure continued and much improved heating services in selected cities in a financially, fiscally and socially sustainable way. Commitment amount: USD 75 million Jiu Valley Development Project The proposed development objectives of the Jiu Valley Development Project are to: (i) build the capacity of local institutions to formulate policy, manage the economic rehabilitation process, and promote vigorous private sector growth in the region; (ii) improve the business environment by reducing barriers to business entry and operations, building the necessary infrastructure to facilitate trade and investment, and improving local environmental conditions; (iii) promote SME and private sector development by facilitating access to credit and improving productivity and competitiveness. Commitment amount: USD 100 million Judicial Reform The project's development objective is to assist the Government in implementing structural reforms in the justice sector through: (a) enhanced institutional capacity of the main judicial governing bodies (e.g. SCM, High Court of Cassation and Justice) and MOJ; (b) improvement in the efficiency of courts and transparency of court proceedings; (ii) improvement in court infrastructure; (iii) enhancement of the professionalism and integrity of judges and other court personnel. Commitment amount: USD 50 million Knowledge economy The overall objective of the proposed project is to help Romania to accelerate its progress toward building a knowledge-based society and economy. The expected outcomes of the project will be directly linked to the goals of e-Europe+. They include: (i) expanded access to Information and Communication Technologies; (ii) improved digital literacy; and (iii) use of the Internet and eservices. The impact would be higher competitiveness, technically-skilled labor force, and modern ICT infrastructure. Commitment amount: USD 60 million Municipal services project The objective of the project will be to a) strengthen the institutional and financial framework for the infrastructure sectors, including water and wastewater; and b) provide budgetary support for critical public expenditure that will result in an improvement in service provision. Commitment amount: USD 100 million Second Programmatic Adjustment Loan Project The PAL program supports the Government's overarching objectives of establishing solid economic growth, reducing poverty and joining the European Union. These objectives will be addressed by focusing on five key, cross-cutting themes: establishing public sector accountability; instilling financial discipline; instituting regulatory reforms; following good social and environment risk management practices; and ensuring property rights. In addition, the PAL provides continuity with previous adjustment operations by ensuring sustained progress on the structural reforms begun under Private Sector Adjustment Loans 1 and 2, while at the same time introducing a new program of phased public sector and regulatory reforms that emphasizes institutional development and effective implementation. Commitment amount: USD 200 million Social inclusion program The proposed development objective of the Program is "to improve the living conditions and the social inclusion of the most disadvantaged people, particularly the Roma." To achieve this objective the Program will support capacity development for continuous progress towards the social inclusion of disadvantaged people, with a focus on Roma, as well as emergency interventions for highly disadvantaged Roma groups.
