Romania - destination of the year in Vogue list
Dana Milea

Romania has been chosen as the 2006 holiday destination of the year in an annual league table drawn up by Vogue Magazine, with the best location proposed by the authors of the list being the Danube Delta, an area which is described as a European New Zealand yet within only three hours reach by plane.
"A visit to Romanian brings a lot of surprises. For example, there are exquisite wines (some of the oldest in Europe, as Romanians say) and this country is also the largest caviar exporter in the world. In addition, there is the incredible beauty of the landscape and, above all, the fact that in this place, horse carriages seem to be more numerous than cars," the authors of the list say.
On the negative side, the magazine points to the fact that there are few quality hotels but they give as a positive example the Delta Nature Resort, a complex of 30 luxury villas situated in the Danube Delta.
"The Vogue List" presents the top 100 most important tendencies for next year for fashion, design, travel, products or public figures.
"Who to meet, what to listen to, where to eat, what to wear...These are questions that we ask ourselves everyday," claims the magazine.
