Call for Scholarship Interview Consultants

The Undergraduate Exchange Program (UEP) is currently recruiting Scholarship Consultants to conduct interviews in Southeast Europe and Mongolia.  Consultants will interview university students for a period of 1-2 days (depending on the number of applicants) in late January and mid-February 2006.  Consultants are needed for the following interview locations:

* Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro

* Bucharest, Romania

* Chisinau, Moldova

* Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

* Skopje, Macedonia

* Sofia, Bulgaria

* Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

* Zagreb, Croatia

Scholarship Consultants will be part of an interview team that includes an UEP Staff Member and an American university international education expert.  The interview team will select finalists for the UEP Program, a fellowship program sponsored by the Open Society Institute in New York (www.soros.org).  Fellowship recipients are awarded a full scholarship to complete one year of non-degree study in the United States at one of 13 universities or colleges.  More information about the Undergraduate Exchange Program can be found at http://www.soros.org/initiatives/scholarship/focus_areas/undergraduate_exchange

Selected consultants will have a strong understanding of and familiarity with the American higher education system, especially in the fields of liberal arts and social sciences.  Applicants should be currently living/working in or around the interview locations (OSI cannot provide extensive travel reimbursement).  As interviews are conducted in English, preference will be given to native English speakers.  Candidates who are familiar with the Open Society Institute or American scholarship programs are preferred.

As a scholarship consultant, you will be expected to:  be familiar with OSI and UEP; interview up to 18 candidates (in groups of 3) per day for 1-2 days; evaluate candidates based on program criteria; be familiar with UEP host institutions in order to recommend student placement; and attend additional events in connection with interview sessions.  Consultants will be granted an honorarium, daily expenses, and meals during the interview process.  Extensive transportation and accommodation will not be covered.

If you are interested in a consultant position, please electronically submit the following items to Anne Campbell at [EMAIL PROTECTED].

* Short curriculum vitae describing your educational and professional background

* List of 2 references

* Cover letter stating interest in position and relevant experience

All materials are due Thursday 15 December 2005.  Previous applicants may apply again.  UEP alumni may apply if they meet the qualifications above and participated in the UEP before 2001 (class of UEP 2000 or earlier).  Short-listed applicants will be contacted for a phone interview.

For questions, contact Anne Campbell at [EMAIL PROTECTED].  Thank you in advance for your interest.
