PROFILE OF THE EUROPEAN CENTER

FOR TOURISM STUDIES AS A HOST INSTITUTION



1.     Brief History

The European Center for Tourism Studies (E.C.T.S.) was created in
Athens in 1992 as an Educational and Training Institution. From the
onset, it established close links and collaboration agreements with
other European Schools and Institutions, as, for example, with:

v    The GLION Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland and

v    The Manchester College of Arts and Technology.



Its operational bases are in the island of Corfu and in Athens, where
it provides accommodation, food, courses and complete programmes to
greek students and to students coming from many countries (currently
from twelve other countries, almost all of them European).



In 2000, the E.C.T.S. established in Corfu a Vocational Training
Center, built on strict European Union specifications and
characterized as a model for modern training facilities.



2.     Current Activities

The E.C.T.S. is providing short courses, seminars and full programmes
in the following fields:

·        Tourism Studies

·        Hotel and Tourism Management

·        Information Technologies

·        Internet Applications

·        Environmental Studies

·        Culinary Arts

·        Economics

·        Financial Management

·        Health Studies (Nursery, Care for the Third Age, etc.)



3.     Infrastructure

The E.C.T.S. has developed through the years an excellent
infrastructure, which includes:

Ø     Educational premises and facilities, certified by the Greek
State and conformed to European Union standards.

Ø     Modern equipment (PCs, digital projectors, networks, etc.).

Ø     Accommodation for the students in four- and five-star Hotels
both in Corfu and Athens:

o       Corfu Palace Hotel

o       Grecotel Athens Imperial Hotel and Athens Acropol Hotel

Ø     Multilingual instructors and professors of high caliber, several
of which are of non-greek nationality (english, german, swiss and
other).

Ø     An administrative and secretarial department, being able to
provide support, logistics and various services.



4.     Services offered by the E.C.T.S.

The E.C.T.S. can provide a multitude of services, which include:

-         Accommodation and food in four and five-star Hotels.

-         Planning, organization and realization of various training programmes.

-         Multilingual instructors for many subjects.

-         Greek language courses.

-         Organization of cultural activities (cultural tours and
excursions, visiting museums, preparing and tasting ethnic and local
food, Greek music and dances, etc.)



5.     Hosting capacity

Through its premises in Corfu and Athens, the E.C.T.S. has a capacity
to host several hundred students related to Leonardo projects per
year, especially from October to May.
