Global Education News is a monthly electronic newsletter where national global education coordinators or practitioners can share global education news and best practices, useful thematic links and educational materials. It also serves as a medium for the North-South Centre global education network national coordinators' own use. Complementary information about the North-South Centre activities can be found on the Interdependent or on Dialogue Newsletter published bimonthly by the Policy Dialogue Unit.
Dear colleagues,
May this year offer us some reasons for more optimism! For the past 5 years the beginning of the year is also a momentum of optimism for a better world with the World Social Forum, this world event being held in three different continents for the first time. In §7 emphasis is given not only to the WSF but also to the follow-up of the UN World Summit. In September 2005, the World Summit agreed to set up a UN Peacebuilding Commission to co-ordinate support to countries emerging from conflict. It was agreed that the Commission would be set up before the end of the year. In this context useful links in this issue are mostly dedicated to Human Rights. Accent is also put on Youth topics under §2 & 3 with useful links to youth international networks.
