from aGender Perspective'. Deadline: May 10 This is a call for applications for the ATA/OSCE ODIHR Gender Course, which will take place on 10-28 May 2006 in SEE University, Tetovo. Background: Following a request from a number of NGOs for targeted training in Gender, the OSCE/ODIHR introduces a course on Globalization Processes from a Gender Perspective for Civil Society Organizations staff members. The training covers the breadth of Gender Mainstreaming and consists of a series of presentations, case studies and interactive workshops run by an international and local professor, OSCE/ODIHR experts and local professionals involved in mainstreaming gender equality. Criteria for participation in the course: Participants in the course are limited to those who are doing substantive work in Civil Society Organizations. The participants will only be admitted to the course following the approval of the OSCE/ODIHR on the basis of the above-mentioned criteria and of the following: · Interest and motivation · Relevant position in the CSO/ Capability to influence the CSOs policies/activities · Willingness to be involved in gender activities · Ability to actively participate in the course in English language Other conditions and requirements: Full participation in the program is a requirement. The overall number of participants will not exceed 30. A Summer University Certificate and ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer System) will be awarded to successful graduates of the course. For additional info on the Summer University see http://www.academictraining.org/ The OSCE/ODIHR will cover the costs of training, course materials, transportation, full board and accommodation for the participants. Course outline: The course will last 15 days (from Monday, 10th July to Friday, 28th July 2006). The course will be conducted in English. Topics to be covered at the course include: · Understanding Globalization: the participants of this course will get a basic introduction into current academic, political and cultural discourse about globalization. Discussing different theoretical approaches the participants will get an insight in the current broad-based debate about global transformation processes and their effects on economy, democracy and human/women rights. · The participants will learn about the necessity to scrutinize the well known notion of globalization to get a basic knowledge about different theories and concepts; and, to get an insight how democracy, development, poverty and gender equity is conceptualized. · Through discussing the effects and consequences of Globalization the participants will learn about positive and negative fruits of globalization in different parts of the world, they will learn about alternative concepts and political practice. · Due to different socio-political circumstances we will discuss the role of non-governmental-organizations (NGOs) to challenge the notion Think global - act local, to demonstrate interweaving processes between international, national and regional acting groups. In addition to the core topics, case studies will be presented on the subjects of Anti trafficking, Domestic violence and Gender Equality among others. Enrollment procedure: CSO are required to propose candidature for one candidate, by submitting the following information: · Portfolio of the Civil Society Organization: registration, contact details, mission and area of work, CV of the NGO- list of all the projects implemented, with specification of the donors. · Application Form, CV and Motivation statement of the potential candidate: the documents have to be submitted in English language

Interviews will be held in English on 15-16 of May in OSCE HQ, QBE Building, 11 Oktombri 25, Skopje.
