Drama Orfanilor din Romania divide Europa si scandalizeaza Familia Regala Britanica
Duminica, 9 Iulie 2006 - Agentia AMOS NEWS
In timpul ceremoniei de decernare a premiului, castigatorul acestuia a mentionat faptul ca a lucrat, o vreme in Romania.
Ducele de Edinburgh: "In Romania ?
Ei doresc reinstaurarea imediata a adoptiilor internationale sau macar rezolvarea celor 1.098 de cazuri ramase in suspensie cand au fost interzise adoptiile in 2001.
Problema consta, de fapt, in cazul familiilor franceze, a caror cerere a fost refuzata (de Guvernul Roman-A.N.A.) in aprilie, dupa o analiza a fiecarui caz in parte de catre o comisie mixta romano-franceza.

IF YOU think the NHS has problems, spare a thought for anyone in Romania at the mercy of their health care provision. The Death Of Mr Lazarescu is a gruelling, epic account of one man's nightmarish descent through a health service that is overcrowded, chaotic and deeply lacking in compassion.
It is a long and frequently depressing film that still manages to creep under the skin as it reflects the fragility of
life and small acts of kindness.
It is a Saturday when Mr Lazarescu (Ion Fiscuteanu) calls an ambulance. An intense headache has plagued him for four days. He is 62 and his stomach will not retain food. He knows something is seriously wrong.
Cristi Puiu's film is content to observe his life and has the feel of a Play For Today or a Ken Loach film from the 1960s. The camera is quite static as it absorbs his flat; a messy, cluttered abode that he shares with three cats and a TV.
The telephone is his lifeline to the world and yet it only seems to carry calls from distant family members keen to get their grubby paws on his meagre pension. He seems a hopeless case and everyone he meets comments on the stench of his breath and assumes that he is an unrepentant drunk. It
is the kind of gallows humour that never brings a smile to the face.
Comforted by his neighbours, Lazarescu is eventually visited by paramedic Mioara (Luminta Gheorghiu) who does him the favour of taking his condition seriously.
She will not leave his side as he is bounced from hospital to hospital and met by arrogant, overworked doctors who take the moral high ground and display a callous indifference to his wellbeing.
They all seem to regard him as an inconvenience, easily discharged from their sight with a prescription and a finger-wagging lecture. As his vitality fades, his final hours become a Kafkaesque nightmare of bureaucratic excess and stony-faced contempt.
'The Death Of Mr Lazarescu'
feels as if it unfolds in real time. It runs for more than two and a half hours and tests the patience and yet it is not something you would readily abandon. The grim experience of one person opens a window on to the soul of an entire country. It also conveys something of the pain, sorrow and struggle of simply being human in a world that works to crush any _expression_ of solidarity or concern. The result is an oppressive, claustrophobic production with a lingering, melancholic aftertaste.
On selected release from Friday, including Edinburgh Filmhouse, July 21-27
