There are children coming from disadvantaged backgrounds (poor families or raised by single parents), who can not even dream about a holiday. Work: The volunteers will spend time with the children (7-14 years) organizing different activities with and for the children, such as painting, playing games, organizing small contests and a day trip outside Cluj, trying to compensate the lack of possibility for these children to go on holiday. Nearest to Livada you can find the city of Campia Turzii and the Turzii Gorge (Cheile Turzii), the most popular gorges in the Apuseni Mountains and the most extraordinary gorges in Romania (because of the height, number and variety of the walls, several species of rare plants). The economy of Livada is sustained by the agriculture, the village being one of the important growers of the county. Smaller commercial houses, some family business, services and the small industry complete its economical spectrum. Work: The volunteers will take part in the renovation of the Livada Center of the Association for Humanitarian Assistance and Social Care Equal Chances. The task of the volunteers will consist in activities concerning the rehabilitation of an old school building in order to transform it into a suitable home for elderly people. Therefore, during three workcamps organized to carry out this project, the volunteers will do different works, such as reparation of the external foundation, rising of the walls, helping to the applying of the sandstone and tyles, final general cleaning of the building, final settlement and furnishing.
