09:00 Mon 15 Jan 2007

I happened to see a BBC report about a textile company in Romania that was
importing "temporary" workers from China because they claimed they couldn't
get Romanian workers. The socially left-wing corporatist BBC naturally
presented this as a positive development, but I was appalled.

This a perfect example of putting the welfare of business ahead of the
welfare of the people. If the company cannot fill the positions at the wages
they're offering, they should raise them. If they truly cannot, then their
company doesn't make economic sense. If they go out of business, their
Romanian employees will find other jobs easily given the putative labour
shortage.

Why shouldn't Romania import "temporary" workers? Well, for one thing,
history has shown that "temporary" workers are anything but, and "labour
shortages" are transient. Western Europe imported millions of "temporary"
workers from North Africa during the post-World War 2 "labour shortage". The
result is that they and their descendents have colonised Western Europe, are
a welfare drain, and the largest source of crime, violence, and fanaticism
in Western Europe.

Secondly, it is a form of colonisation. Labour shortages result in higher
wages, which result in married couples being able to afford more children.
By importing foreigners, who keep wages down and costs for things like
housing up, native children are reduced in number. It's no coincidence that
Western Europe has the world's lowest birth rate even as it has imported
millions of immigrants.

Thirdly, it keeps the economy backward. Labour shortages provide impetus for
industries to automate away undesirable and/or low value added jobs. Look at
Japan. It has turned to automation instead of importing workers and its per
capita income has continued to grow and its technical leadership has been
largely maintained. People have long speculated as to why the Roman Empire
never developed an industrial revolution, despite many technical skills not
recovered until as late as the 18th century and a large, scientifically
curious class unencumbered by religious dogma, the omnipresent use of the
cheapest of labour, slavery, removed incentive to use labour saving
technology.

Perhaps Romania could take those wages paid to the Chinese workers, much of
which will leave the country, and use them to automate instead?

Unfortunately, Romania has come under the thumb of the EU, dominated by a
socially left-wing corporatist ideology that wants immigration, wants
colonisation of Romania and other countries, as a result of racist,
left-wing ideology that holds the native population of Europe in contempt
and a desire for cheap, compliant labour. They will use the false pretext of
"rights" to force Romania to allow the "temporary" workers to colonise
Romania permanently.

The patriotic businesses and organisations, media, government, and people of
Romania must fight the colonisation of their country.

They must stop immigration there.
