Dear friends,
A group of teachers from School "V. Alecsandri" from Baia Mare, Romania are
organizing some art exhibitions next year, within our project of intercultural
education and dialogue. As there are Romanian, Hungarian and Rroma (Gypsy)
children who attend our school, we have started a project by which we want to
teach our pupils that there are no major differences between children of
different ethnic groups, and that the differences in traditions and cultures
make life more interesting if we know about them. So, this year, we organized
some art exhibitions with the works of our children and of children from other
schools. These exhibitions were very successful, so many of the teachers who
answered our invitation this year, suggested that we organize the 2nd edition
in 2008. You can see aspects from the exhibitions organized in 2007 here:
www.juniorarts.blogspot.com
So we are preparing for the 2nd edition of the exhibitions. The 3 exhibitions
in 2008 are planned to be opened as follows: on April 8th the art exhibition
celebrating the International Day of the Rroma (Gypsy) people - as there are
children in our school from this minority group; on April 18th - the art
exhibition for Easter, and on May 30th - the art exhibition for the
International Children's Day, celebrated on the 1st of June, according to
UNESCO. The theme for the last exhibition is "Celebrating unity through
cultural diversity", as the year 2008 is considered by the European Union the
European Year of Intercultural Dialogue.
What is unique about these art exhibition, according to one of our guests this
year, is that our school is not a vocational art school, specialized in this
domain, and that we organized the very successful art exhibitions. and this is
thanks to my very enthusiastic and hardworking colleagues, who worked as a team
with me.
So, those of you, who are interested in sending your children's art works to
any of our art exhibitions, please let me know, so that I can send you details
about them.
As time is passing fast, the art works for the exhibitions should arrive at our
school no later than March 15th, so that we can organize the materials in time.
If there are schools where Rroma (Gypsy) children attend courses, and teachers
there want to participate with their pupils' works, in the 1st art exhibition,
we would be happy to have their exhibits on display in the exhibition. As well
as they can participate in the other 2 exhibitions.
If there are people who want to attend the opening of our art exhibitions,
please let me know, so that we can make arrangements.
You can contact me at this address: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
As the New Year 2008 is approaching very fast, I wish you the best of health,
interesting projects, good luck and
A Very Happy Hew year 2008!
