Appeal for the Prayer Our hearts and thoughts are with the Pakistani people as they mourn the death of Benazir Bhutto, Chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples Party and a renowned personality, politician, state person recognized nationally & internationally and highly respected leader of Pakistan. We pray for the departed soul and pay condolence to the bereaved family, husband, children, mother and sister. We extend our deep sorrow to her family and the millions of supporters who for decades have seen the Bhutto family as a source of inspiration. The assassination of Benazir Bhutto is not only a setback for democratic processes in Pakistan, but the statement by those who have taken responsiblity for the killing shows that there are powerful forces at work which are bent upon preventing the voice and leadership of women in the world. We earnestly appeal & request the national and global communities and specifically churches to pray for the welfare of the State of Pakistan which is passing through a very difficult period of its history and encourage the nation to bear such a big loss. We further expect the global communities to help the Pakistani nation and its government machinery to eradicate the terrorism which is playing with the lives of the innocent people and disturbing the peace of Pakistan and a great hurdle in the restoration of true democracy in Pakistan. Whether in Pakistan or in our home countries, we can pay tribute to Benazir Bhutto by dedicating ourselves to building a world based on tolerance, cooperation and fulfilling the urgent needs of the human family-which are the pillars of a more peaceful world. Let us use this sad and poignant moment to recommit ourselves to work for justice, peace and equity in the world.
