Pasaje dintr-un recent interviu cu EU Coordinator Erhard Busek pe tema
Pactului de Stabilitate in Balcani si viitorul tarilor din zona. Interviul

"[...] SPIEGEL ONLINE: Apart from Macedonia, only Croatia is safely on the
way to joining the European Union.

Busek: That has more to do with the EU than those states. It was too early
for Bulgaria and Romania to join. What the EU failed to do in those cases,
the Balkans now has to pay for because the hurdles have been set higher.
Croatia would have been in a better position to join the EU than Bulgaria
and Romania. [...]

Accession negotiations have to be undertaken urgently with all countries.
Then they are occupied with real questions and can spare themselves the
other nonsense. That's good occupational therapy and produces competition.
Some will fulfil the requirements in three years others in 20. The EU's
crying shame is that it always proceeds bilaterally -- a common and overall
strategy is missing. [...]

Since the Congress of Vienna, we have been telling people in the Balkans
what they should do. Now, it's up to them. If we continue to treat them like
children, they will never grow up. Every child has to burn his or her
fingers once."

Pana una-alta exista voci care spun ca deocamdata UE este cea care si-a ars
degetele cu aderarea prea devreme a Bulgariei si Romaniei.
