Background Information
The Council of Europe - with financing from the European Commission - will
carry out a project on strengthening and protecting women's and children's
rights in Ukraine. The objective of the project is to examine and improve
the compatibility of existing laws and practice in Ukraine in the fields of
gender equality and children's rights, and to contribute to the prevention
of sexual exploitation and abuse of children in line with the Revised Social
Charter, the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children
against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse, and other relevant
international instruments.
Job description
Job Mission
Under supervision of the Head of Judicial Co-operation, Trafficking and
Sexual Exploitation Unit, Economic Crime Division, the LTA co-ordinates
activities of the project and ensures the achievement of its objectives.
Key duties and responsibilities
The LTA performs the following duties:
* Ensures regular co-operation with project partners;
* Prepares proposals for activities with estimated budgets;
* Organises approved activities, including liaising with the
beneficiary institutions on determining topics, setting up the agenda,
proposing experts, preparing background materials and expertise as needed;
* Organises and co-ordinates work of short-term experts;
* Ensures that activities are carried out in accordance with the
work plan and calendar of activities and proposes amendments if necessary;
* Advises the project partners on a regular basis;
* Drafts project reports (monthly, inception, progress and other
reports);
* Guides and supervises the Project Assistant in Kyiv.
Key qualifications required
* University degree in law, social science or similar;
* Not less than 10 years professional experience, of which at least
4 years in the field of human rights, trafficking in human beings or abuse
of children or women;
* Experience in co-operating with government and state institutions;
* Experience in project management is an asset;
* Knowledge of European and international standards, as well as best
practices in the field of gender equality, women's and children's rights;
* Fluent in English with proven writing skills;
* Knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is an asset;
* Previous experience in Ukraine is an asset;
* Communication and IT skills;
* Ability to work in an international environment.
