Aid & Eastern Europe Conference: 14th December 2009

A one day Conference exploring challenges and opportunities facing NGOs and
voluntary groups working in Central and Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet
Union.

This event is hosted by Comber - for a future without orphanages and is
supported by International Orphanage Development Programme, To Russia With
Love, Irish Aid and Focus on Romania.

The programme will include: Working with international NGOs - The experience
of Belarus and Romania; Ireland's role in the region by Irish Aid
representative; Networking in Belarus; Orphanages and alternative care;
Building local partnerships; Panel discussion - The Future for Foreign Aid
in the Region.  The panel will be chaired by Mairead McGuiness, MEP and will
comprise representatives of NGOs active in the region.

Afterwards, the conference delegates are invited to a reception at Iveagh
House, hosted by Mr. Peter Power, T.D., Minister of State at the Department
of Foreign Affairs with responsibility for Overseas Development.

Representatives of organisations working in Eastern Europe, such as
volunteers, staff, board members etc or others with an interest in the
region are very welcome to attend. Conference fee is 25 euro per person,
which includes lunch and conference materials.
