well, aside from this (trying to coax data from/to memcached ), rose  
makes everything in my life easier

with memcached, however, rose can be a bit annoying.

        - one function to loop a rose resultset , pushing yaml-ized items  
and their children into an array to memcached
        - another function to do the same with a single result
        - inverse functions of each above

i think i'm going to end up writing something that will turn the  
whole 'tree' structure into yaml, then go back and forth.  the above  
was just easier to do on a short timeframe
