Another way is to install another editor (a very small one :-) with line numbers.
You can use an arbitrary editor. For example you download Phase V of Ulli Meybohm
(originally an HTML-Editor, but with syntax-highlighting for java, also) at http://www.meybohm.de/htmledit/index.html
(installed size 650 kB). Make PhaseV to your standard application for .java-Files and choose plattform editor in rose for
editing java code.
This should go.

Hi Frances
If you have Rose2000e (with the Tech Preview loaded)- the built-in editor
does have an editor with line numbers, keyword colour-coding, etc. This
will also be in the next release of Rose (v2001) which was announced on
Monday and will be available by the end of the year.
