Which version of UML has dropped object diagrams? They still show up in the
Three Amigos' book, "The Unified Modeling Language Reference Manual".
However, as the book states (see p. 363), "Tools need not support a separate
format for object diagrams". So, Cindy VanEpps' statement is correct. In
Rose, one would support object diagramming using a collaboration diagram.
In this case, you simply would create a collaboration diagram without
messages, but which shows objects connected by links.

Cindy, Wuwei,

A collaboration diagramme is not an object diagramme. It is a diagramme
with objects.
Object diagrammes are one of those things that disappeared when the three
amigos discarded
their proprietory notations in favour of UML. The object diagramme showed
the instantaneous
static relationships of an instantiated system. The collaboration
diagrammes show the
dynamic behaviour (flow) of messages during some activity. These are not
the same. They
are not even close.

While the collaboration diagrammes and static (class) diagramme provide
almost full coverage
of modeling needs, there are some times that you would want to record an
object diagramme.
(Just because a class COULD have a relationship does not mean that is will)

In brief, Rose does not support object diagrammes in UML mode. I don't
remember whether it
still supports Booch notation. If it does, and you can convince it to go to
Booch notation,
you can probably get an object diagramme. But as I said, they're not
tremendously profound,
as evidenced by the fact that UML has dropped them.
