Hi Rusty,Kirk,

     thanx for the help!

infact even i am following the same technique to use notes to a
message in case i need iterations. i could not find any technique in
Rose to do the same. but i somehow feel that it is not the right way
     to represent it.

to add something more, i had downloaded UML Reference Card by Allen
Holub from the internet. He also indicates the * technique for
iteration. But in case of multiple messages to be passed among
objects in an iteraion,he specifies a rectangle to be drawn grouping
all the messages taking part in that iteration.

But can this rectangle be drawn using Rose??

     Regards,
     Vivek

Vivek,

I looked for a way to indicate this in Rose but did not see one -- I'll be
watching the responses to your message. In UML notation (unless it's
changed in OMG 1.3) you put an '*' in front of the message to note
repetition. You can also note repetition in a 'script' attached to the
message. I'm using both methods right now in Rose but manually putting a
'*' in front of the message won't really be a good idea downstream (it will
be part of the operation name!). You'd think that you could 'check'
repetition in the message properties and Rose would add the '*' for you.

Subject: (ROSE) Iterations in a Sequence Diagram....

     Hello,

I would like to know how to represent an iteration in my Sequence
     Diagram.

like, if i have two classes that are communicating with each other by
a message. and i need to do this interaction for a variable no. of
     times.

Is this possible in a Sequence Diagram?? If yes, then how.

     Regards,
     Vivek
