Hi Arne,
I had the same IDE problem. The only difference is, I was using Visual
Basic. I do not know if this makes a difference, but I received the
following answer from Rational Rose. Give it a try, it might work.
---
PROBLEM:
When updating model from code through the Rose/VB IDE integration, the
process is incomplete and comes up with the following error in the error
log:
Error: IDE support for Visual Basic cannot be instantiated
TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS:
1. If there are two versions of Visal Basic on the machine (i.e VB 5.0
and VB 6.0), uninstall the oldest version. Rose doesn't know which
version to pick.
2. Installing Visual Studio 6.0 after installing Rose is known to cause
problems with the IDE integration. Uninstall and Re-install Rose.
3. Start Visual Basic manually, and then reverse engineer from Rose
(model update from code).
4. It may be possible to correct the "IDE support for Visual Basic
cannot be instantiated" error by unloading the Visual Modeler using
the VB
Add-ins->Add-in Manager dialog.
5. Uninstall MS Visual Modeler. Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs,
double click MS Visual Studio 5.0/6.0, Add/Remove components, check
Enterprise Tools, select Change Options, deselect MS Visual Modeler
if
checked, continue.
6. The interface is highly dependent on having a clean registry. Please
run Microsoft's regclean.exe tool to ensure that there are no missing
or
corrupt dlls still being referenced on your system.
7. If none of these points have helped, uninstall and reinstall MS
Visual Basic (the VB component only if possible, and this requires a
quick reinstall of Rose as well).

Emne: (ROSE) Rose and Visual C++.....HELP!
Hi,
I'm still trying to reverse-engineer some exsisting code in Visual C++ to
Rose, but keep running into problems. Though I have managed to
reverse-engineered most of the code (which by the way was an impressive
performance by the wizard !!), I do get the odd warnings and errors. To
start with an error that keeps popping up:
11:03:39 Error: IDE support for VC++ cannot be instantiated
Why, and what does it mean ?
And why does the warning:
11:03:25 Warning: The file H:\Ssg\Src\Libs\Async\AsyncServer\AsyncServer.dsp
is read-only and will not be modified.
when I have turned off the Write ModelID-option for Model Update under
Tools->Visual C++ ?What is it Rose wants to write to my project file ?
Any help is appriciated ! (Have I overseen something in the documentation,
perhaps ?)
Regards
Arne
