Afternoon,

I have submitted a request for info from Rational tech. support but I
thought I'd post a query here too, just in case someone could shed some
light on this topic.

Rose does not allow you to drag a class from the browser onto a class model
diagram if that particular class is already on the diagram. However, if you
use the "new class" icon from the tool bar and start typing the class name,
you can select an existing class by clicking on that class in the dropdown
box. You end up with two "instances" or icons of the same class on the same
diagram.

Why might you ask, would I do this? If I have a really "busy" diagram with a
lot of classes I can avoid a rat's nest of association lines all over my
diagram by having a class appear in more than one place on the diagram. The
really cool thing that if you add an attribute to one of the "copies", the
other class icon/box is updated too.

Question1: Any idea why the browser won't let me do this?
Question2: Do you think it's an inconsistency between old and newer versions
of Rose?
Question3: Can you see/think of any reasons to justify the difference?

Comments?
