Hi UML Modelers,

I'm having difficulty with the Instantiates relation
in Rose Modeler 2000 and 2001. In particular, I cannot
reproduce explicit parameter binding as illustrated in
figure 13-34 in the UML Reference Manual (Tre Amigos,
Addison-Wesley, 1999) using either of the Rational
products mentioned above.

The short of it is that I cannot get Rose to label
the instantiates relation with a <<bind>>(parameter-list)
string as the examples in the UML RM depict.

I can and have gone into the specification-->detail
window of the instantiated class and entered my parameters
in the "Actual Arguments:" list. But that doesn't change
the model visually.

Another question I have has to do with the fact that
the Rose doesn't replace the formal parameters in operation
signatures with the actual parameters in those signatures
in the instantiated class. Why is this? Are we supposed
to add all those operations and attributes with the actual
parameter types into the Instantiated class manually?
That seems lame to me. I must be missing something here
that makes this a necessary evil. Anyone know why?

Please share with me your experiences with Rose and
Parameterized and Instantiated classes and how you
tackled this situation in your models.

Thanks a bunch for you thoughts, Cheers,
-Scott
