The curent "experimental" script for XML Schema Generation comes with the following caveat:

This software is supplied "as-is", as a sample to demonstrate the ability
to generate W3C compliant XML-Schema from a Rational Rose DTD Model.
This script is not supported by Rational Software and is provided as an
' experimental tool to see how XML-Schema is formed and it's relationship to
the existing XML 1.0 DTD standard. This script is Not part of any product
engineering efforts and should not in any way be taken to reflect
capabilities or directions for the Rational Rose Product.

Rational Software does not feel that at this time XML-Schema is ready for
production applications as the official W3C documentation is still at a
working-draft stage. However XML-Schema will become important and a number
of our customers would like to be able to see how an XML-Schema could be
generated from a DTD, or from a UML model.

In my current project, an ability to generate XML Schema from UML diagrams is a tantalising prospect.

Before we embark on a project to extend this capability for ourselves, I'd just like check that this is still
Rational's current position in this area. Obviously we would not want to waste the effort on something proiprietary
if there is a prospect of further announcements in thsi area?

Rgds.
