Define an interface that represents the interface for that layer. Use that
interface in the sequence or collaboration diagrams.

Later, you may split the layer interface into different interfaces
implemented by different components within the layer.

Sincerely,
James.

Subject: (ROSE) Sending messages to layers in a Sequence Diagram

All,

I would like to create a sequence diagram that shows the various layers
of my architecture. I want to use the Package symbol stereotyped as
<<layer>>. Rose, as far as I can tell, only supports objects in sequence
diagrams. Is there any way to configure Rose so that you can put any
symbol (Package, Component, Node) in the sequence diagram?

Specifically, I want to do a Message Sequence Chart (MSC). This is a
tool, very much like a UML sequence diagram, that is used in embedded
systems to show messages being passed between system components. I want
to extend the UML sequence diagram to become an MSC diagram. Telelogic's
Tau does this..... can Rose?
