(ROSE) non-batch mode apex session error

While trying to generate c++ code form the model on the unix network and the
operation fails with the following error:

Unable to locate non-batch mode apex session. Non- batch- mode apex messsage
server is required for Apex add-in to create Apex subsystem(s) and views.

also it said to view log for details and the log window said the same as
above.
