There another reason - to synthesize code from the model.  One can synthesize
an amazing amount of code from the static model.  You can do even more if
you make use of state machines.  I would suggest that you look at the
comp.object
news group to see what people are doing.  Also, pose the question - 
"how well does model driven code generation work?"
