This drives me bats. The object icon in the sequence diagram behaves
very badly.
If you just type an object name into the icon, and don't specify class,
the name will wrap to the next line when it exceeds the width of the
icon. Changing the width causes the name to wrap appropriately. So far
so good.
BUT, if you put in a long class name, and don't name the object, the
bleeping text won't wrap (actually, it can demi-wrap, by leaving the
colon alone on the top line). At this point you are completely free to
choose from one of three unacceptable options: you can widen the icon
to accomodate the text, or you can accept a truncated name, or you can
consider using shorter class names.
In class icons, the class name will wrap.
Class icons are also resizeable in both dimensions. Object icons can
only stretch in width, not height.
The behaviors of these icons is not as different as, say, toothpicks and
bowling balls, but the differences do make me wonder whether the Rose
developer teams shared any classes (or talked to each other).
Does anybody else out there consider this a design flaw?
Is there some simple thing I can do that will make everything wonderful?
