Subject: RE: (ROSE) How to show association to local class variable withou
tgenerating extraneous Java code
Again, my question is "why should all local variables and method
arguments
be modeled as dependencies, not associations."?
Again, class diagrams (and associations) model static relationships or
relationships between classes. The case of local parameter is dymanic
relationship or relationship between objects.
An assotiation between two classes A and B means "each object of class A
is connected somehow to some objects of class B during all period of its
life". This is not true for a local parameter of some method of class A
type of wich is reference to B - this link exists only while this method
is executed.
Nothing in the UML that I
can tell dictates this. If the reason is solely because the tool wants
me to do it that way, then the tool is broken and should be fixed. You
are
No, the issue is not related to particular UML tool.
But it is my belief, and will be until someone can prove to me otherwise
via
the UML specification, that what I am describing is an association, and
Rose
ought to support me doing it this way.
I can't find UML metamodel now. I think I will be able to prove you this as
soon as
I find it.
