I don't know specifically about Oracle Data Modeler, but in ErWin, that view alias is
only valid for the view definition itself. It becomes a correlated name within the
view SQL.

You can create an alias in the View definition. Open the view specification,
go to the columns page, and select a column - the alias will appear in the
alies field and you can change it.
You can not create a permanent alias in the table definition.
