This helps make large models more manageable. Then there are two approaches to team development. 1. Allow single user access to each controlled unit. This works something like a coding project under source control. Keep all of the controlled unit files on a share drive. When one developer opens (similar to: check out) a controlled unit to work on all subsequent developers opening the same controlled unit will get a read only copy. 2. Allow multiple user to have there own local copy of the controlled unit files. Then a model administrator must be responsible for merging the multiple copies of each controlled unit file back into a master model. The first approach is simpler from a model administration stand point but may be more frustrating for a large development team when multiple users need to work with the same files. The second approach is easier for the developers but will create a considerable amount of work for a model administrator.
