Yes, you could use separate collaboration diagram for each alternative
scenario. There may be other approaches, but I am not aware of.

Got a question on Collaboration Diagramming. In creating a collaboration
diagram for a use case we are taking the approach that the flows in the
diagram model the basic 'happy' flow events. How, when, where are the
alternative, subflow, exception flows events documented? Do you document
them in a separate collaboration diagram, as an alternative flow on the
basic collaboration diagram, or some other approach.,
