Hi Pam,
I verify all the points you indicate in the mail and at the end I reinstall
Rose Entreprise 98i.
I have Rose Entreprise 98i, VB5 and SP3.
I have the same behaviour and also with VB6 and SP3.
On the command 'Component Assignment Tool' Rose :
Open the specific project VB,
Open a new project VB (I don't know why ?)
Create a component in the Component View
And crash whith the error : IDE support for Visual Basic cannot be
instantiated
Any idea about this problem ?

Hi B.
Please take a look at the following technote:
PRODUCT: Rational Rose 98i, 2000
When updating model from code through the Rose/VB IDE integration, the
process in incomplete and comes up with the following error in the error
log:
ERROR: IDE support for Visual Basic cannot be instantiated
WORKAROUND:
1. If there are two versions of Visual Basic on the machine (i.e. VB 5.0
and
VB 6.0), uninstall the oldest version. Rose doesn't know which version to
pick.
2. Installing Visual Studio 6.0 after installing Rose is known to
cause problems with the IDE integration.Uninstall and Re-install Rose
98i/2000.
3. Start Visual Basic manually, and then reverse engineer from Rose
(model update from code).
4. It may be possible to correct the "IDE support for Visual Basic
cannot be instantiated" error by unloading the Visual Modeler using the VB
Add-ins->Add-in Manager dialog.
5.Uninstall MS Visual Modeler. Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, double
click MS Visual Studio 5.0/6.0, Add/Remove components, check Enterprise
Tools, select Change Options, deselect MS Visual Modeler if checked,
continue.
6. The interface is highly dependent on having a clean registry.
Please, run Microsoft's regclean.exe tool to ensure that there are no
missing or corrupt dlls still being referenced on your system.
7. If none of these points have helped, uninstall and reinstall MS
Visual Basic (the VB component only if possible, and this requires a
quick
reinstall of Rose 98i/2000 as well).

Subject: (ROSE) Reverse with VB
Hi,
I want to reverse a project in VB in Rational Rose Enterprise 98i.
I install Visual studio V 6.0 and the Addin Visual Basic V 2.2 in Rose.
When I use the menu 'Visual Basic / Update model from code ...' and launch
the reverse, I have this error in LOG :
15:22:41| Rational Rose 98i
15:22:41| Updating Model for Visual Basic projects
15:23:44| Error: IDE support for Visual Basic cannot be instantiated
15:23:44| Update end
Is there somebody who know what I forget ?
Thank in advance,
B. JOHRA
