These are two different concepts, where you have to decide which one to use. The Oracle8i add-in is just for Oracle and uses stereotyped classes for the database definition. It includes some OR capabilities of Oracle, but does not have the possibility to define for example stored procedures. Data Modeler on the other hand contains only relational capabilities, maintains two models (logical - called object model and physical - called data model) and can model views, stored procedures, stored procedure packages, user defined data types, etc. If you do not use the OR features of Oracle 8i, data modeler is definitely the way to go. Then, select the "oracle8-datatypes" icon inside that window.
