Andy,

1. Is there any limitation to the reverse engineer functionality that comes
in the Rose Professional C++ Edition?

Yes. There are a number of edge cases which you MAY encounter reverse
engineering using the ANSI C++ or Visual C++ add-ins. My recommendation is
to try it out first and see if, for documentation purposes, it captures
everything you need. The evaluation version of Rose Enterprise is available
at:
   http://www.rational.com/tryit/rose/index.jsp

2. Will we be able to view the UML models created in Rose Professional C++
Edition through Rose Professional J Edition?

Yes. But Rose Professional J will only show you the C++ classes as Analysis
classes. The C++ properties will not be accessible. The VC++ Model Assistant
and COM wizards will not be available. This may be sufficient for your
documentation purposes. Any C++ specific properties or settings can be
copied into the class documentation so it can be seen later using a non-C++
version of Rose.

Subject: (ROSE) Version Question (C++, Java)

Hello,

We support several applications and all but one are written in Java so
we have purchased eight floating license for the Rose Professional J
Edition. For the one application that is written in C++ we would like
to use Rose Professional C++ Edition to take advantage of the reverse
engineering capabilities in Rose.

Our thought is trade in one floating copy of Rose Professional J Edition
for one floating copy of Rose Professional C++ Edition until the system
has been documented. Not being an avid user of Rose I have the
following questions that I would like to post to the user group prior to
doing this:

Is there any limitation to the reverse engineer functionality that comes
in the Rose Professional C++ Edition?

Since our goal is to only have the Rose Professional C++ Edition license
for the short term project of documenting an application (six months to
a year), will we be able to view the UML models created in Rose
Professional C++ Edition through Rose Professional J Edition?

Thanks - Andy
