UML 1.4 (3.89 Swimlanes) sais:
"An activity diagram may be divided visually into "swimlanes," each separated from
neighboring swimlanes by vertical solid lines on both sides."
So the horizontal Swimlane is not UML conformal.

When drawing swimlanes in an activity diagram Rose automatically positions them
vertically down the screen. Has anyone managed to position the swimlanes so that
they appear horizontally across the screen.
Many thanks
