Hi Anil,

I would focus on the customer's needs by considering the business as a black
box that customers interact with. Business use cases in other words. Once
you have understood how the business is to be used by its customer to
fulfill their goals, you can start to consider the roles and
responsibilities of the business organization. Activity diagrams work well
here. An activity consumes resources, and produces / refines resources. Your
activity diagram can also be used to model the way resources are consumed,
produced / refined. These are also rendered in a class diagram, called the
business object (or type) model.

Now here's a technique I have found useful. Consider whether an activity
could be done better with the support of an information system. If so,
underline it. These activities become the name for system use cases. This
makes tracing system requirements to business requirements very clear.

Regards,
-Richard
