Charles,

A whitepaper would be great. I personally am just getting started in the
exposure to RUP and over whelmed with what flies through this forum. I get
lost on where people are coming from. I like Om would like to understand
what it takes to implement RUP utilizing the tools mentioned.

I will be watching the correspondence with eagerness. Thank you for yours
and everybody else who offer contributions to this forum.

I am alone.

I have already given about my background. I am a CC 5+ , CQ 3+, Oracle DBA
6+ experienced guy. Time given is 6-12 months. I am already through 30% of
it. I just wanted to know what are the industry practices? Because, I hardly
find even Rational Tech Support has some one who knows all these products
and the integration between them to answer our questions from both project
(macro) and individual tool (micro) perspective.

I am sending this to all forums to have contributions from everybody, to get
a collection of replies for a proposed white paper, as suggested by you.
After all, RUP is an integrated approach using all these tools.

Thanks,

Om Naidu

Excellent question Om,

I will work on a reply and post it to you in a few days.

How many team members are you?
How long will your project take?

It all really depends on how far you are down the line with the process
implementation already, etc. Lots of questions and assumptions....

Rational will have you take n months of their consultants answer this
question by actually doing it for you. I think its time for a white
paper on this...

| Respected Gentlemen!
| All said and done about RUP. It is a process with six+ steps of best
| practice. Can someone tell me technically from the tools point of
view,
| namely,
| ReqPro,Rose,ClearQuest,ClearCase,TestManager,
| how does one implement the process.?
| How they seamlessly integrate and communicate with each other?.
| How do they form a traceability..?
| Let us discuss the Classic Web project. Not as it is given by Rational
| Tutorials. Let us start from the initial phase. I walk into
Blockbuster
| and
| convince him to get the Classic Web project. Please, can someone
explain
| how
| do we go about, implementing RUP using the above tools. I would like
to
| walk
| through the tools application than theoretical discussion. I am
starting
| here with step 0.
| Step 0.
| Bought 10 licenses of ClearCase - Full version.
| Bought 10 licenses of Rational Enterprise Suite.
| Step 1...?
| < fill in your answers here. If you feel you are giving more details,
| please
| break them into steps. Please, maintain proper anachronism. i.e. time
| based
| steps, step 1 has to complete for step 2 to proceed ...like that.>
| Thanks and regards,
| I am starting this thread to have all of us understood from
implementation
| point of view, especially for guys like me. I have 5+ years of
ClearCase
| and
| 3+ years of ClearQuest experience. It would be nice to have
discussions
| based on the above tools and their integration related point view than
| Software Engineering as it ought to be. I will also fill in my steps,
what
| little I know, as it proceeds.
| Thanks,
| Om Naidu
