Did you try to see if you had the following keys in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SourceCodeControlProvider with a string value called "ProviderRegKey" set to "Software\Microsoft\SourceSafe" and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SourceCodeControlProvider\InstalledSCCProviders with a string value "Software\Microsoft\SourceSafe" set to "Software\Microsoft\SourceSafe" Hope this helps.
