The only databases supported are those listed:
ANSI SQL 92 standard and the following DBMSs: - IBM DB2 MVS and UDB 5.x, 6.x, and 7.0 - Oracle 7.x and 8.x - Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, 7.0, and 2000 - Sybase Adaptive Server 12.x There is no support for adding a ODBC driver to another database. There is a lot of mapping that goes on in the Data Modeler with the various Databases, so just connecting to something else with a ODBC driver is not really an option. Also several of the database above, Rose uses OLE DB, not ODBC. So the only option for any other database, is to either migrate it over to one of the above databases, or export it to DDL in one of the above supported DBs. I have never worrked with FileMaker Pro so can't give you much direction there. But I did find the following technical article on their page. It suggested that they might have something "soon" to convert to Oracle or SQL Server. This was posted: Written: 9/13/1999 Modified: 4/12/2001 Product: FileMaker Pro 4.x So maybe it is currently available? Also mentions OpenBase is currently supported with this utility, and is a SQL-based database. If it's SQL langauge is close to ANSI SQL 92, then maybe that would be an option. http://www.claris.com/ti/106423.html ClickConvert Converts FileMaker Pro Databases to OpenBase Format Patrick Kennedy Rational Support -----Original Message----- From: Groody, Nicole [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, April 05, 2002 7:08 AM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: (ROSE) reverse engineering FileMakerPro Can the data modeling functions in Rational Rose reverse engineer a FileMakerPro database? I've been told that since FileMakerPro is ODBC compliant that it should work, but in the database section of the reverse engineering wizard, I only see options for specific databases like Oracle, DB2, etc. I see no FileMakerPro option and also no general ODBC option. Can ODBC compliant databases besides those specifically listed be reverse engineered? Also, I've been told FileMakerPro can't generate a DLL file (I'm not FileMakerPro expert so maybe that is incorrect) so using the DLL function in the reverse engineering wizard isn't an option.
