I am having trouble trying to reverse engineer a particular schema in a particular database we have here.  It is an Oracle9i database and we are using Rose Professional 2002.05.  I realize that Rose does not yet officially support Oracle9.  However, I am connecting via an Oracle8 client, and my issue cannot be strictly due to the database version, since I can successfully reverse engineer a schema from a different database instance of the same exact Oracle version on the same exact machine.

The behavior I see when I get the problem is that I can connect to the database in the data modeler.  However, on the next screen (Reverse Engineering Wizard -> Choose Schema) there are no schemas listed.  Since I cannot select a schema, I can not proceed beyond that point.

Has anyone ever seen this before?  Any ideas as to what to check?  So far, the only difference we can figure out between the database I can reverse engineer and the one I cannot is the character set: the successful DB is 7-bit ascii while the one that fails is unicode.

Thanks,

Brett
