I am looking for two experienced instructors for the following sessions at COMDEX/Fall in Las Vegas, NV the week of November, 18, 2002. COMDEX will pay for travel expenses within the USA. They will not pay for travel expenses for someone coming from outside the USA. They may pay $500 to help with airfare for someone coming from outside the USA. There is no stipend. The session is two and a half hours long. Here are the descriptions:

JDK 1.4 Essentials

Java is all grown up now and another release has hit the streets. The Java Development Kit (JDK) is the foundation of the Java platform and provides the basis for building applications.  This workshop will cover what has changed in the JDK and new features that are now available with this release including: Javaä 2, Standard Edition (J2SEä) version 1.4; Javaä Servlet 2.4 Specifications; JavaServer Pagesä 1.3 Specifications; JavaServer Facesä Specification; and Javaä Services Framework. Participants will get an in-depth look at the newest features of the Java platform as well as things that are changing and see code examples of using the new APIs. This session will provide useful information that will help guide technology consumers to making decisions around projects , products, and potential upgrades..

Essential Java Design Patterns

Patterns eliminate tedious tasks and speed the development process. Today's pattern repositories include industry-recognized J2EE patterns, UI patterns, test cases, and more. Using a pattern template expert, developers can customize patterns and make additions to a pattern repository. Time-consuming tasks are taken care of with a few clicks and developers can move on to serious coding. Java itself is built upon some principal design patterns. This workshop will explore patterns, pattern repositories, templates and development tools that leverage patterns to accelerate the development process. This session will illustrate how patterns can be visually depicted using UML and Visual modeling tools such as TogetherSoft ControlCenter and Rational XDE. Participants will go away with a foundational understanding of what design patterns are, how they manifest themselves in the core of Java, and ideas on how to leverage them in their development projects.

If you are interested in teaching one of these sessions, please respond by email.

Thanks,
