Tere,
The RUP is modeled in UML. The product you see is produced out of its UML model.
We are using an extension of Rose, called the Rational Process Workbench to do this.
The class diagrams and activity diagrams that you see in the RUP product are generated
from the UML model.
See figure 2 in this paper:
http://www.therationaledge.com/content/jan_02/f_agilityWIthRUP_pk.html
The notation is usable for other modeling purpose (they are just icons for stereotypes
of UML modeling elements).
You can also consult this document:
OMG's Software Process Engineering Metamodel specification:
http://cgi.omg.org/docs/ptc/02-01-23.pdf
See in particular section 12: notation, and 12.2 Suggested icons

Subject: (RUP) RUP Notation
Hi !
The notacion used by RUP for represent process, workflow, activities,
actors, artefects... es very very good
-I think-
The question 1 is:
Is possible use this notacion for modelling bussines process? Are
there any special software?
The question 2 is:
Why don't model RUP -itself- with UML?
With UML, how can we model this kind of process?
Thanks !
