Just saw a great ep tonight, one I hadn't seen for years. The one where Roger (Tim Curry) flees town and it looks like the Connors are screwed 'cause Dan's put money into a house and the buyer dropped out. Jackie saves the day at the end by saying she'll buy it herself. There are some great jokes in this ep, like when they're in the thrift shop and Nancy reveals she wants to use Roger to get a baby and Roseanne and Jackie are appalled, but then Jackie (?) says "But who knows, maybe a baby'll make Nancy less self-involved". And just then Nancy says "Guys, what do think of this pram... does it make me look fat?", LOL.
And the very end is priceless when Dan thinks he doesn't have to beg Bev for money anymore now Jackie is gonna buy the house and he launches into a big tirade against her. But Jackie says "Dan, I really wish you hadn't done that... Where did you think I was gonna get the money for the down payment??"!! I really think the show changed a lot between this season (5) and the next, Roseanne's character became a lot less 'human' (with the new face) and the show in general lost a lot of its warmth. Marty.
