There are numerous petitions addressed to Carsey-Werner and they are aware of the demand for the show. There are also a few things to consider. Roseanne (the person) and the rest of the cast do make residuals based on it still being in re-runs. Roseanne (the person) has said (I think jokingly) that she was all for it coming out on DVD unless it cut into her residuals.
Carsey-Werner has a number of very high profile shows that are still in the vault....3rd Rock From the Sun, The Cosby Show, Grace Under Fire...and a bunch of crap but Roseanne (the show) is one of their crown jewels. I'm sure they wanted to make sure the waters were safe before releasing that puppy. They are testing the waters with "That 70's Show" and "God, the Devil & Bob". Because in case you hadn't noticed, the fastest growing (and flooded) section of DVD releases are TV shows. Shows in the 2nd season already have season 1 on DVD. Even shows like "Lost" which is still in it's first season has already announced it's release on DVD even before the 2nd season is filmed. I'm sure they don't want Roseanne (the show) to be lost in the crowd. So just be patient, it will happen. Look how long it took Seinfeld to get released. If you want to help turn up the heat....
