As a ROSEdu member and former Facebook intern, I get asked this a lot, so it is probably relevant: Facebook does contribute to open source quite a lot [1] [2] and they started the very exciting OpenCompute project [3]. [1] https://developers.facebook.com/opensource/ [2] https://github.com/facebook [3] http://opencompute.org/ There is even an Open Source Team at Facebook, I was part of it as an intern last summer. Their function is dual: when they are not contributing to open source projects, they help other Facebook engineers open source their projects or contributions.
