Salut!

Chris Csikszentmihalyi, fost mare boss la MIT media lab, actual researcher la
Polo Científico e Tecnológico da Madeira, are un call for applications pentru
doctorate, unul în "Digital Media", altul în "Networked Interactive Cyber
Physical Systems". Dau mai jos copy/paste la anunț.

L-am cunoscut pe Chris la o conferință de jurnalism și mi se pare un om super
fain. Aș aprecia un ping dacă depuneți o aplicație, pentru curiozitatea mea
personală :)

> Call for applications: PhD in Digital Media and PhD in Networked Interactive
> Cyber Physical Systems at M-ITI
>
> M-ITI (http://www.m-iti.org/) is a unique human-computer interaction (HCI)
> research institute, rated as “Excellent” by the national science foundation
> (FCT). M-ITI offers students high quality doctoral advisors, partnerships
> with renowned universities such as University of Texas at Austin and Carnegie
> Mellon University, dual-track degrees, modern facilities, and
> state-of-the-art equipment to support their research. At M-ITI, students and
> researchers have the opportunity to integrate teams working on challenging
> and dynamic projects.
>
> M-ITI PhD students typically take their first year coursework on the mainland
> (Lisbon or Porto), then return to Madeira to conduct their research and write
> their dissertation. M-ITI currently offers two PhD programs, Digital Media
> and Networked Interactive Cyber Physical Systems.
>
> Applications are being accepted for new students for the 2016-2017 school
> year, check:

> 1. PhD in Digital Media (PDMD)
>
> The PDMD – Doctoral Program in Digital Media was created through the
> partnership between the FCT/UNL (Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da
> Universidade Nova de Lisboa), the FEUP (Faculdade de Engenharia da
> Universidade do Porto) and UT Austin (University of Texas in Austin, United
> States).
>
> It is a 4-year PhD program, which is aimed at students with a Masters degree
> (2nd cycle Bologna or pre-Bologna) in the areas of information /
> communication sciences, multimedia, interactive design, and all scientific
> and technological areas that feed into digital media. Digital media is an
> area that is rapidly growing and has gained increasing importance in our
> daily lives.
>
> The Digital Media PhD program aims to train researchers, academics and
> leaders in innovative processes. This training will enable the
> conceptualization and development of digital products and services, having
> taken into account target audiences, contexts and goals relevant to several
> distribution channels.
>
> Applications for the Digital Media PhD program are now being accepted for the
> 2016/2017 academic year. Application deadlines:
>
> University of Porto: August 8, 2016
>
> New University of Lisbon: August 25, 2016

>
> 2. PhD in Networked Interactive Cyber Physical Systems (NETSyS)
>
> The PhD in Networked Interactive Cyber Physical Systems was created through
> the partnership between IST/UL ( Instituto Superior Técnico da Universidade
> de Lisboa) and Carnegie Mellon University.
>
> This program is aimed at students with a Masters degree (2nd cycle Bologna or
> pre-Bologna) in engineering (electronic, computers, mechanical, aerospace and
> IT), computer science, and applied mathematics and it offers a high level of
> expertise and skills in cyber physical interactive systems. This PhD will
> provide students with the conceptual, scientific and technological tools to
> deal with the most challenging problems that happen in some of the most
> relevant real-life situations in the world. The fast progress that has been
> made in the field of systems engineering are allowing for the development and
> deployment of large-scale operating systems that interact with humans and
> physical systems, which are at the center of a vast number of applications in
> real world contexts and have significant scientific, economic and social
> impact.
>
> To meet the real and ever-changing challenges in our society, a new
> generation of researchers is needed. These researchers should be capable of
> dealing with theoretical and practical situations created by the intersection
> of information processing, controls and robotics, systems optimization,
> networks data and human-computer interaction. The PhD in networked
> interactive cyber physical systems aims to train researchers, professors and
> professionals to deal with innovative processes and situations. It also has
> within its objectives to enable students to analyze complex situations and to
> propose new solutions, as well as give them the ability to manage
> multidisciplinary teams.
>
> The applications will open (probably in June 2016) for a period of roughly
> two weeks. Interested applicants should contact us
> (mailto:[email protected]) as soon as possible to help describe the process
