Ah, that list is _very_ old and should be ignored.  We should update it
or remove it actually.  For a current TODO list look in 1.0_release.txt
in the same directory.

There is already a virtual keyboard for ALSA (which is our MIDI api of
choice) called "vkeybd".

Yes, look in:

rosegarden/docs/code/guidelines.txt

We're approaching 1.0 (slowly) so the likelihood of any interesting
and nice standalone bits to do right now is low - once we reach 1.0
though features will appear on the horizon.  Check out our bug reports
and feature requests pages on sourceforge too.
