Hi Developers!

We are almost ready to put up a patch to support a first version of the Rosegarden pitch tracker. The web page will be at

        http://markov.music.gla.ac.uk/CMT/cmt.py///Projects/rgtracker.html

in the first instance.

We've got a problem with autoconf. Working against 0.9.9, everything is fine until we run aclocal ; automake (versions 1.7.9 and 2.59 respectively). The generated Makefiles have -fno-exceptions, regardless of whether with-exceptions =YES is passed to configure. We see similar things in the bugs area at sourceforge, but no solutions. Editing the Makefiles simply to include -fexceptions produces a link problem.

We'd like to clear this up, as there we're planning on having a configure-time option which enables the pitch tracker (and disables it by default so as not to annoy the user base until we are sure it works securely)

Dougie and I are up for trying to fix it ourselves, but be warned that I am pretty incompetent at autoconf-related things, although not as incompetent as Dougie! If someone could give us some hints, it would be much appreciated. We don't want a special exclusion clause added to the GPL banning us or our group from ever touching Rosegarden again :) Anyone want to correspond off-list if preferred?

Apologies if this is a known bug/already fixed. We're working on making a patch against a release, rather than the CVS, obviously.

Nick/.
